New Delhi, 15 January 2026: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Appointment of Shri Praveen Kumar, IPS(WB: 1993), presently working as Director General, ITBP to the post of Director General, Border Security Force (BSF) from the date of assumption of charge of the post and upto 30.09.2030 i.e. the date of his superannuation or until further orders.
Shri Praveen Kumar, IPS, Director General ITBP, took over the additional charge of Director General, Border Security Force – The World’s largest Border Guarding Force. He has taken over the charge from Shri Daljit Singh Chawdhary, IPS, who is proceeding on superannuation today. Shri Praveen Kumar, IPS, is a 1993 batch officer of the Indian Police Service, West Bengal cadre. In his 32 years of service, he has served in different capacities in West Bengal and also has the privilege of serving on central deputation.
