Bhubaneshwar, 09 January 2025: Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Addressed the 18th Pravasi Bharti Divas and asserted that the world today listens to India, which not only presents its own views but those of the global south. Speaking at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention, PM Modi said, “We are not only mother of democracy, but democracy is part of our lives.”
He reached the Janata Maidan in Bhubaneshwar to inaugurate the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2025. The 18th PBD is being jointly organised by the ministry of external affairs and the Odisha government from January 8-10. The theme of the convention is ‘Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat’.
The prime minister said that he has always considered the diaspora as ‘India’s ambassador’. “Due to strength of its heritage, India is able to tell the world that future does not lie in war, but in Buddha,” he said. He also said that the government is trying to ensure that whenever Indian youths go abroad, they go with skills. “India is not only young country but also country of skilled youths,” the PM told the diaspora.
“G20 meetings were organised in various parts of India to give world first-hand experience of country’s diversity. Diaspora played major role in India’s Independence in 1947, now target is 2047 to make country developed,” PM Modi said.
